A REPAIR PLAN BUILT AROUND THE VEHICLE

Factory certification should mean more than a logo on a wall

Modern vehicles are built with different materials, joining methods, electronics, restraint systems, cameras and sensors. The correct repair can change by manufacturer, model, model year and even the options installed on the vehicle.

That is why Universal Motorcars does not treat every collision as the same job. At our Spring Mountain location, the repair plan begins with the vehicle identification, the impact area and the damage that can be documented. When disassembly, measurements, scanning or additional inspection reveal damage that was not visible on the first estimate, we update the repair plan and document the findings.

A factory-certified program does not make every repair automatic, and it does not mean every damaged part must be replaced. It means the shop has made a documented commitment to the training, equipment and repair-program requirements established for participating facilities.

Why this matters after an accident

  • Repair planning can follow the correct manufacturer information for the specific vehicle.
  • Technicians can identify when specialized materials, joining methods or procedures apply.
  • Scanning, alignment and calibration needs can be connected to the work performed.
  • Hidden accident damage can be documented for an insurance supplement.
  • Final quality control can be matched to the actual repair—not only the visible paintwork.

I-CAR Gold Class collision repair certification at Universal Motorcars

Training beyond one manufacturer

I-CAR Gold Class recognition supports continued collision-repair training across roles involved in repair planning and production. Our mechanical team includes ASE-certified technicians who can assist when accident damage extends beyond exterior panels.

FROM DAMAGE TO DELIVERY

What a properly coordinated collision repair involves

1. Identify the complete concern

We begin with the impact, visible damage, warning messages, changes in how the vehicle drives and the customer’s description of what happened. Photos help us prepare, but they do not always reveal damage behind panels or underneath the vehicle.

2. Build the repair plan

The team reviews relevant repair information and determines whether disassembly, scanning, alignment checks, additional diagnostics or insurer authorization is needed. The plan changes when new documented damage is discovered.

3. Coordinate the work

Body, refinishing, mechanical, alignment and calibration requirements are connected to one repair plan. Not every vehicle requires every operation; the process is determined by the affected components and work performed.

4. Document additional damage

An insurer’s initial estimate is a starting point. When teardown or testing reveals additional accident-related damage, Universal Motorcars photographs and documents the findings and prepares a supplement for carrier review.

5. Complete required verification

Depending on the repair, final checks may include panel fit, paint finish, scan results, wheel alignment, warning-message review and calibration or relearn procedures.

6. Explain the completed repair

Customers should know what was repaired, what was approved and whether any item remains outside the completed scope. Clear communication matters as much as the technical work.

INSURANCE ESTIMATES & SUPPLEMENTS

The first estimate may not be the final repair plan

Insurance estimates are often written before the vehicle is fully disassembled, measured or diagnosed. They may address the most visible damage without identifying everything affected behind the panel, at a mounting point or in a related mechanical or electronic system.

Universal Motorcars works with insurance carriers, documents accident-related findings and submits supplements when additional damage is discovered. Coverage and payment decisions remain with the insurer and the applicable policy or claim.

Nevada drivers can choose their repair facility. You do not have to select a shop simply because it appears on an insurer’s preferred list.

A note about parts

Parts selection depends on the vehicle, manufacturer program, repair procedure, availability, insurer approval and customer authorization. Universal Motorcars does not make a blanket promise that every repair will use only one category of parts.

When a particular part or procedure is required or recommended for the repair, we explain how it affects the plan before authorized work proceeds.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Factory-Certified Collision Repair FAQs

What does factory-certified collision repair mean?
Factory-certified or manufacturer-recognized collision programs establish requirements for participating repair facilities. Depending on the program, those requirements can involve training, equipment, repair information, facility standards and ongoing participation. Certification does not eliminate the need to inspect the individual vehicle and build a damage-specific repair plan.
Which manufacturer programs does Universal Motorcars participate in?
Universal Motorcars’ Spring Mountain collision center has certified or recognized repair capabilities for select GM brands, Ford and Lincoln, Mopar brands, Hyundai and Kia, and Nissan and INFINITI. Program applicability is confirmed for the individual vehicle because certification scope and program status can change.
Do I have to take my vehicle to a dealership after an accident?
Not necessarily. Many factory-certified collision facilities operate independently from dealerships. The important question is whether the facility has the appropriate program participation, repair information, equipment and capability for the damaged vehicle.
Can I choose Universal Motorcars if my insurer recommends another shop?
Yes. Nevada vehicle owners and claimants may choose their repair facility. Universal Motorcars can review the insurer’s estimate, document the damage and communicate supplements for carrier review when additional accident-related repairs are identified.
Does factory certification guarantee that every part will be OEM?
No blanket promise should be made without reviewing the vehicle, repair procedure, manufacturer program, availability, insurance approval and customer authorization. We explain the applicable parts considerations as the repair plan is developed.
Will my vehicle need scanning or ADAS calibration?
It depends on the vehicle, affected systems and repair operations. Scanning, alignment, camera or sensor calibration, and vehicle relearns are not automatically required for every collision. When they apply to the specific repair, they are included in the plan and explained.
Is Universal Motorcars Tesla-certified?
No. Universal Motorcars is an independent repair facility and is not Tesla-certified, Tesla-approved, Tesla-authorized or affiliated with Tesla. We provide independent Tesla collision and selected mechanical repair based on the vehicle, damage and our service capabilities.
Which Universal Motorcars location handles factory-certified collision repair?
The manufacturer-certified collision programs described on this page are primarily associated with Universal Motorcars at 5585 Spring Mountain Rd in Las Vegas. Call (702) 754-6774 with the year, make, model and damage so our team can confirm the appropriate next step.

Start with the damage—not a guess about the repair

Tell us the year, make and model, where the vehicle was hit, whether it is drivable and whether an insurance claim is already open. Photos can help us understand the visible damage, but a complete estimate may require an in-person inspection and authorized disassembly.
