Choose the shop. Understand the plan.

GMC-specific repairs start with the vehicle in front of us.

Your model year, VIN, equipment and damage matter. A Sierra bed repair, an Acadia bumper repair and a HUMMER EV collision require different decisions.

We inspect the affected areas, use applicable GM repair information and explain the work before you authorize it. Our body, paint and mechanical capabilities help coordinate accident-related repairs through one local team.

From a parking scrape to a major impact

What happened to your GMC?

The visible damage gives us a starting point. Inspection identifies the connected parts and systems that also need attention.

01

Bumper & front-end damage

We assess bumper covers, reinforcement and mounting components, grilles, lamps, fenders and hoods. A front-corner impact may also involve support structures, wiring or components behind the bumper. Repair versus replacement follows the damage and applicable procedures. Explore bumper repairs.

02

Truck beds & tailgates

For a Sierra or Canyon, we look beyond the outer bedside: bed and cab alignment, mounting points, tailgate fit and operation, and affected rear-bumper or hitch areas all matter. Tell us about a MultiPro tailgate, bed accessories or trailering equipment so the inspection accounts for your truck’s configuration.

03

Scratches, dents & paint

Scratches, dents and sideswipes can affect doors, quarter panels, trim and seals as well as the finish. We assess the paint depth and panel damage to explain what can be repaired and where refinishing is needed. We plan panel repair or replacement, surface preparation, color matching and blending around the areas being repaired. See our paint and refinishing approach.

04

Structure & accident-related systems

When damage calls for it, measurement and GM procedures guide frame or structural repairs. We also evaluate accident-related steering, suspension and alignment concerns. Materials and joining methods vary by model, year and component; we identify the actual construction before choosing a repair method. Learn about structural repair.

Trucks · SUVs · Vans · Electric vehicles

Your GMC, your equipment, your repair scope.

We welcome current and older GMC vehicles. Tell us the year and model when you call so we can confirm the repair requirements, parts availability and any specialty work before arrival.

Pickup trucks

Sierra 1500, Sierra HD & Canyon

Body, bumper, bed and tailgate damage, with attention to cab and bed mounting, frame-related concerns and equipment affected by the impact. Denali and AT4 are trim designations, not separate models. Their grilles, trim, finishes and other equipment belong in the parts and refinishing plan, too.

SUVs & crossovers

Yukon, Yukon XL, Acadia & Terrain

Front- and rear-end impacts, door and quarter-panel damage, liftgate fit, paintwork and affected safety-system components. The plan follows your SUV’s construction and equipment.

Vans & older models

Savana & earlier GMC vehicles

Ask us about cargo- or passenger-van accident damage, and older models such as Envoy or Jimmy. Vehicle size, configuration, upfits, parts availability and repair scope must be confirmed. For broader commercial needs, see our commercial and truck services.

Battery-electric GMCs

HUMMER EV & Sierra EV

Body, bumper, panel and paint repairs within our GM EV collision capabilities. Call with the model, year and damage details so we can plan appropriate handling and confirm any additional specialist requirements.

GMC work trucks & commercial vans

Fleet collision repairs with a plan for downtime.

When a Sierra work truck or Savana van is out of service, your business needs more than a repair estimate. You need to know what happens next, who approves the work and what could change the return date.

Schedule the inspection.

Call with the year, model, VIN, damage and whether the vehicle can be driven. Tell us about racks, a service body, a box or other upfits. We confirm vehicle dimensions, weight, access and repair equipment requirements before scheduling or dispatching a tow.

Keep approvals moving.

We handle insurance and self-pay collision repairs, document damage and prepare supplements for hidden damage when required. Give us your fleet manager’s contact details and authorization requirements so repair decisions reach the right person.

Plan the return to work.

We explain parts availability and the expected repair sequence, then keep your fleet contact updated as the work progresses. Hidden damage, parts delays, approvals and required inspections can change the schedule; we explain the next step when they do.

Need transport or mechanical inspection after the accident? We coordinate towing and authorized impound retrieval, and assess accident-related steering, suspension and other mechanical concerns. Start with Spring Mountain for GM-certified repairs; we confirm the appropriate facility for oversized or specially equipped vehicles. Explore our commercial and truck repair services.

The checks behind the repair

Towing questions deserve a specific answer.

If your GMC tows a trailer or carries work equipment, tell us before the estimate. Depending on the impact, the repair plan may need to address the hitch and attachment areas, frame, suspension, wiring, cameras or trailering-related systems.

Structural alignment alone does not establish towing readiness. Ask us to explain the repair findings and completed checks before you tow again, and continue to follow your vehicle’s published towing and payload limits.

Diagnostics & driver assistance

Scans, sensors and calibration.

GM’s collision guidance calls for a pre-repair scan during estimation and a post-repair scan after repairs. Required calibrations and relearns depend on the vehicle, components and procedures involved.

  • Identify equipment by VIN and vehicle configuration.
  • Inspect affected cameras, radar, sensors, wiring and mounting areas.
  • Complete required calibrations, relearns and functional checks for the repair.

GMC electric-vehicle collision repair

EV body damage needs an EV-aware plan.

GM Collision Repair Network battery electric vehicle specialty certification

Our Spring Mountain shop holds GM battery-electric-vehicle collision certification. For a HUMMER EV pickup or SUV, or a Sierra EV, we confirm the damage, handling requirements and applicable repair scope before the vehicle arrives.

That planning covers the body and structure affected by the collision, components near the impact and the precautions required by GM procedures. An exterior photograph cannot establish the condition of the battery or high-voltage system.

Our GM BEV specialty supports collision repairs on these electric GMCs. Battery and high-voltage concerns require separate assessment; electrification work reserved for a GM EV dealer is coordinated with the appropriate specialist.

If your EV was in a collision and you are unsure whether to drive it, call before moving it. Tell the transport provider it is an electric GMC and follow the model-specific transport instructions.

Insurance claim or self-pay

Know what happens next.

01 / BRING THE DETAILS

Start with an estimate.

Bring your GMC, keys and any existing estimate. For an insurance repair, bring the claim number and adjuster’s contact details if available. A free preliminary visual estimate covers damage we can see; we explain any diagnostic or disassembly charges before you authorize them.

02 / AGREE ON THE SCOPE

Document what the repair needs.

Authorized disassembly may reveal hidden damage. We photograph and document findings, prepare insurance supplements when needed, and discuss parts, repair procedures and any out-of-pocket costs. Coverage depends on your claim and policy.

03 / REPAIR & REVIEW

Check the work and explain it.

We carry out the authorized repairs and the inspections, scans and calibrations required for that work. At pickup, we review the completed repair and answer your questions. Parts availability, hidden damage and claim review can change the schedule; we keep you informed.

Need help getting here? Call first if your GMC is not drivable. We can help coordinate towing or authorized impound pickup and explain the arrangements. Rental help is available, with coverage, cost and availability confirmed before booking.

Practical answers

Before you choose a GMC body shop.

Are you a GMC dealership?

No. Universal Motorcars is an independent, family-owned repair business. Our Spring Mountain facility participates in the GM Collision Repair Network, the manufacturer program relevant to GMC collision repairs. You can contact our team directly for an estimate.

Will you use genuine GM parts?

We use GM repair information to identify the required procedures and advocate for appropriate OEM parts. We explain the parts specified, availability, insurance coverage and any alternatives or cost differences before you authorize the repair. The final parts plan depends on your vehicle and repair.

Can a bumper or truck bed be repaired instead of replaced?

Sometimes. Damage severity, material, mounting areas and GM’s instructions determine whether repair is appropriate. A photograph is useful for an initial conversation, but inspection may be needed to assess the underlying components and decide the scope.

Can I bring an older GMC or a work van?

Yes, contact us with the year, model and damage. We confirm the vehicle’s configuration, size, parts availability and the scope we can handle before drop-off. Tell us about racks, service bodies, mobility equipment or other upfits.

Will a proper repair erase the accident from my vehicle’s value?

An accident history can affect resale value even after a properly completed repair. Damage severity, documentation, condition and the market all matter. Repair records help explain the work, but we cannot guarantee a resale value or an accident-free valuation.
