A bumper can do more than protect the paintwork. Depending on your Ford, cameras or sensors may sit in or behind it. A surface scratch and a crack in the plastic can need very different repairs, and Ford limits certain repair methods on bumpers equipped for these systems. The details behind the repair

Materials, electronics and the right procedures

We use the vehicle’s repair information to plan the work. The operation that fits one model or model year isn’t automatically right for another.

Aluminum needs its own plan.

Some Ford trucks and Lincoln vehicles use aluminum components. We identify the affected materials and confirm the required repair method, equipment and scope before work begins. We don’t assume a steel-panel repair method also fits aluminum.

A warning light isn’t the whole story.

A clear dashboard doesn’t tell us whether an affected camera or sensor is correctly set up after a repair. A scan checks for electronic faults; calibration makes sure the affected system is set up according to Ford’s instructions. We look at your Ford and the work being done to determine which checks are needed—even when no warning light is on.

For Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning and Lincoln hybrid body or paint damage, we confirm the vehicle-specific handling, inspection and repair scope before work begins. Share the year, model, impact area and any warning messages so we can plan appropriate handling and inspection.

Body damage alone doesn’t tell us whether a high-voltage component needs work. Battery diagnosis or repair requires its own assessment and confirmed capability.

Can I bring my Ford to Universal if my insurance company recommends another shop?

Yes. In Nevada, you can choose a licensed body shop, including Universal Motorcars. Bring us the estimate your insurer sent you, and we’ll walk through it together. Choosing your shop doesn’t automatically mean every charge is covered, so we’ll explain any differences or costs that still need to be worked out before you approve the repairs.

Bring your claim number, adjuster’s contact details and any existing estimate. We review the repair scope, photograph and document damage, communicate with the adjuster, and prepare supplements when inspection finds additional accident-related damage or necessary operations.

You’ll hear what changed, why it matters and what needs approval. We explain parts choices and advocate for the manufacturer’s repair requirements. Your policy, claim decisions and authorization determine payment; certification alone doesn’t guarantee coverage or OEM-parts approval.

If you’re paying yourself

You’re just as welcome. We’ll look at the damage, discuss appropriate repair options and provide an estimate before you authorize work. If a scratch or dent is the main concern, say so—we’ll explain what the repair involves without treating every job like a major collision.

Ask us to walk you through what was repaired, which parts were used and any scan or calibration reports for the work performed. It’s also a good time to ask about warranty terms and caring for newly painted areas. Keep that paperwork with your vehicle records—and if something still doesn’t feel right, tell us so we can discuss it.

A completion estimate becomes more useful after inspection. Hidden damage, parts availability and insurance decisions can change it; we explain those changes instead of promising the same timeline for every vehicle.

Can I bring my Ford to you with an estimate from my insurer?

Yes. Bring the estimate, claim number and adjuster’s contact details. We compare the estimate with the damage and discuss the repair plan with you. If authorized inspection uncovers additional accident-related damage, we document it and prepare a supplement for the insurer to review. You don’t need a dealership estimate before speaking with us.

Will my repair use original Ford or Lincoln parts?

We explain the parts in your repair plan and advocate for the manufacturer’s repair requirements. If your insurance estimate lists a different part, we review it and document any needed change with the adjuster. OEM-parts coverage depends on the policy and claim; we’ll discuss any unresolved cost with you before you authorize the work.

Does an aluminum F-150 need a different kind of body repair?

Yes. Aluminum panels require repair methods and equipment suited to that material. We identify the affected components and use the vehicle’s repair procedures to determine what can be repaired and what needs replacement. A dent’s appearance alone isn’t enough to decide.

Can you help after an accident in a Ford EV or a Lincoln hybrid?

We confirm the inspection, handling and repair scope for the vehicle before work begins. Collision repair doesn’t automatically mean the high-voltage battery needs replacement.

How much will the body repair cost, and how long will it take?
