The qualifications behind your repair

Kia standards.
A local team you can talk to.

Universal Motorcars renewed its Kia collision certification in July. The program connects repair planning with Kia’s requirements for training, tools, equipment and facilities. We use the vehicle’s year, VIN, equipment and damage to identify the applicable Kia repair information.

That matters when deciding whether a component can be repaired, where replacement is required, and which inspections and system checks belong in the repair plan. Certification is a facility qualification; the work still needs to be planned for your particular Kia.

Our independent, family-owned shop is at 5585 Spring Mountain Road. Explore the Hyundai–Kia certification hub for our shared manufacturer programs.

The Kia link opens the program’s locator. Search Las Vegas or 89146 and check the facility address. Carwise is a separate shop-and-review directory.

Procedures guide the work.

Manufacturer information helps determine repair methods, joining requirements, corrosion protection and required checks. A similar-looking Kia can have different repair requirements.

Training has a practical purpose.

I-CAR Gold Class recognizes collision-repair training at the business level. Technician qualifications are role-specific; ask our team about the people and procedures involved in your repair.

Scratches, dents & accident damage

Small damage deserves attention.
Major damage deserves a full plan.

Tell us what happened and what changed afterward. A door that no longer closes normally, a new warning message or a steering pull is useful information—even when the exterior damage looks minor.

01 / EXTERIOR

Bumpers, doors & panels

We inspect scratches, dents, cracks, panel gaps and attachment points. A Sportage bumper scrape, K5 sideswipe or Telluride liftgate impact can involve different materials, fasteners and nearby systems.

Repair versus replacement follows the damage and Kia’s procedures. The outer bumper cover does not reveal everything behind it.

02 / REFINISHING

Paint that belongs with the car

We evaluate the paint code and the finish already on the vehicle when planning color matching and blending. Existing repairs, fading and pearl or metallic finishes can affect the work.

Tell us early if your Kia has a matte finish, wrap or paint-protection film so we can confirm the appropriate repair approach.

03 / COLLISION

Structure & hidden damage

A heavier impact may require authorized disassembly and measurements to understand affected reinforcements, mounting points and structural areas. Photos alone cannot establish the whole repair.

If the findings change the plan, we document them and explain the next steps before additional authorized work.

More than the visible panel

Sensors, scans and alignment belong in the conversation.

On an equipped Sorento or Telluride, damage around a bumper can affect sensors and their mounting areas. On a Carnival, damage near a sliding door deserves attention to fit, latching and affected electrical functions. We identify the actual equipment before setting the scope.

Kia’s published collision guidance calls for pre-repair and post-repair diagnostic scanning, including when a warning light is absent. A scan reads vehicle-system information; it does not replace a physical inspection or a required calibration.

  • Scanning: record and investigate relevant diagnostic findings.
  • Alignment: inspect steering or suspension concerns after a wheel impact or a change in handling.
  • Calibration: identify the procedures required by the vehicle, affected components and repair operations.

We explain the checks in your repair plan and identify any operation that needs a qualified specialist.

Gasoline · Hybrid · Plug-in hybrid · Electric

For your Kia hybrid or EV,
confirm the scope first.

Have a damaged Niro, EV6 or EV9? Or a hybrid or plug-in-hybrid Sportage or Sorento? Call our Spring Mountain team with the year, VIN, damage location and any warning messages before arranging a tow or repair drop-off.

We confirm the work we can accept for that vehicle and explain which body, paint or related operations can be completed here. If the repair needs a specialist service, we discuss that arrangement before you authorize it.

For battery-area damage, underbody impacts or electrical warnings, we assess the vehicle-specific requirements for training, equipment and procedures before confirming the repair scope.

What we confirm with you

The vehicle. The impact. The required work.

  • Exact model, model year and powertrain.
  • Visible damage and any new warnings or driving concerns.
  • Handling, inspection and repair requirements for the affected areas.
  • Which work is accepted here and whether outside specialist support is needed.

Kia offers gasoline, hybrid, plug-in-hybrid and electric models. Availability varies by model year; a model name alone does not identify its powertrain.

Insurance repairs & self-pay

Choose your shop.
Get help with the repair paperwork.

Bring your claim number and insurer’s estimate if you have them. We’ll inspect the damage, explain our findings and handle repair-related communication when you choose Universal Motorcars for the work.

Can I choose Universal?

Yes. Nevada law lets an insured or claimant choose a licensed body shop, even when an insurer recommends another facility. NRS 690B.016 also limits what this rule requires an insurer to pay; choosing a shop does not guarantee approval of every proposed charge.

What if more damage appears?

After you authorize repairs and leave your Kia with us, disassembly may reveal additional accident-related damage. We photograph the findings, document the required work and submit an itemized supplement for the insurer’s review. We follow up on repair questions and keep you informed as the scope develops.

A supplement is an update to the repair estimate. It is not automatically a new bill for you. We discuss coverage issues and any proposed work outside the approved claim before requesting authorization.

Will you use genuine Kia parts?

We plan the repair using Kia’s applicable procedures and discuss the proposed replacement parts with you. Kia publishes guidance supporting genuine Kia replacement parts. An insurer’s estimate may specify a different part type, so we review the requirements and support appropriate parts requests with the repair documentation.

Coverage, claim circumstances, parts availability and the required repair all affect the discussion. We do not promise that every policy pays for new OEM parts. Ask about parts before authorizing repairs.

Paying for the repair yourself?

You’re welcome here. We can assess a parking dent, scratch or damaged panel and explain suitable repair options and the estimate. You do not need to open an insurance claim to request an inspection.

What happens next

From the first inspection
to the final walkthrough.

  1. 01

    Inspect & explain

We look at visible damage, discuss your concerns and prepare a preliminary estimate. Diagnostics or disassembly may require separate authorization and charges.

  2. 02

    Confirm the plan

Once repairs are authorized, we inspect further, document hidden damage and confirm parts, procedures and insurance follow-up.

  3. 03

    Repair & check

Body, paint and related work follow the approved scope and applicable procedures, including required scans, alignment or calibration.

  4. 04

    Review together

We explain the completed work, review relevant repair documentation and discuss warranty information and any care instructions.

Towing & authorized impound pickup

If your Kia cannot be driven, call before sending it to us. We can arrange towing or coordinate an impound pickup once the necessary release and owner authorization are in place. Tell us if it is a hybrid or EV so handling requirements can be confirmed.

Rental coordination

We help you understand the available rental arrangements and coordinate with the provider or insurer as appropriate. Approved dates, daily limits, availability and payment arrangements depend on the claim and rental terms.

Lifetime paint & workmanship warranty

Our collision paint and workmanship carry a limited lifetime warranty while the original owner keeps the vehicle. It does not transfer to a new owner.

Ask for the written terms before authorizing your repair. We’ll explain the applicable coverage, conditions and how to bring a concern back to us.

Before your visit

A few practical questions.

Is my estimate free?

Our preliminary visual collision estimate is free and requires an in-person inspection. It covers what can be assessed visually. Diagnostic testing, disassembly and other work may have charges; we explain those before authorization.

How long will my Kia repair take?

The damage, parts availability, required procedures, insurance responses and specialist scheduling can all affect timing. We discuss the expected sequence after inspection and explain changes as the repair develops. A bumper scrape and a structural repair will not follow the same schedule.

Do you work on older Kia models?

Yes—contact us about your Forte, Optima, Soul, Sedona or other Kia. The vehicle’s condition, damage, parts availability and applicable repair procedures determine the work we can accept. Bring the VIN and any prior repair information you have.

What should I bring to the inspection?

Bring your Kia if it is drivable, the claim number and existing insurance estimate if available, and details of any new noises, warnings or handling changes. If it is not drivable, call first so we can discuss towing and the right arrival arrangements.
